Regional Coordinators

Coordinators are sought for the following regions to serve for four years:

To take up post immediately:

  • London North (All London Boroughs north of the Thames, plus south west Essex areas of Basildon, Brentwood & Thurrock) 
  • East Midlands (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, and Rutland) 
  • Northern Ireland
  • North West England (Greater Manchester and Lancashire)
  • Thames Valley (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire)
  • Wessex (Channel Islands, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Wiltshire)
  • Yorkshire & Humber (East, North, South & West Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire)

Job description

There are 16 °Ù´ºÁ´ Regional Co-ordinators across the UK and they play a vital role in supporting the work of °Ù´ºÁ´ at a regional level.

The four-year voluntary role is open to consultants and SAS doctors who are current members of °Ù´ºÁ´, or willing to join. (Trainees who are interested in being involved with °Ù´ºÁ´ locally can become a Regional Trainee Rep.)

  • Co-ordinate °Ù´ºÁ´ activities in the region and be a point of contact for local members
  • To work with the °Ù´ºÁ´ Regional Trainee Representative for their area
  • Organise at least one °Ù´ºÁ´ Regional meeting a year
  • Maximise membership of °Ù´ºÁ´ through the promotion of the organisation with students, trainees and other paediatricians in the region
  • Cascade information on °Ù´ºÁ´ activities to members in their Region Contribute to, and encourage regional members to participate in, consultation documents
  • Be a member of °Ù´ºÁ´ Council, which meets twice a year (usually in June and December – attendance in person at RCPCH office in London, or remotely via MS Teams)
  • Write a report on °Ù´ºÁ´ activities in your region for ‘°Ù´ºÁ´ News’, as appropriate
  • To liaise with the relevant College Regional CCH Lead, on education and training for community trainees
  • At their end of their term, to seek a suitable replacement amongst the regional °Ù´ºÁ´ members (and if unsuccessful, liaise with the °Ù´ºÁ´ office to advertise the role)

It is estimated that the role requires one hour per week (equivalent to 0.25 PA).
