Student assisting with new student orientation checkinϲͼ’s newest class of incoming freshmen and transfer students will begin their “Golden Tiger Experience” on Friday, Aug. 16 with four days of events designed to help them learn all they need to know to be successful.

Along with the four-day orientation program, the university will conduct its final New Student Orientation session on Friday as well. This session, beginning at 10 a.m. in the University Chapel, is only for students who have yet to attend one of the university’s summer orientation sessions held in June and July. Check-in for the session begins as early as 7 a.m. in the Chapel.

A schedule for the Friday morning New Student Orientation program, which is scheduled to last until noon, is available for download.

Following a new student luncheon at 12:30 p.m. on Friday for all incoming students and their guests, new students will be assigned to an orientation group. Activities into the evening on Friday, as well as Saturday, Sunday and Monday, will give these incoming students the opportunity to learn university traditions, meet the dean and faculty in their respective colleges and schools, and better understand campus policies and resources. Equally important, sessions and events will allow them to make new friends, learn about campus life and leadership opportunities, and experience life as a student on the historic Tuskegee campus.

A highlight of the university’s annual orientation program is the Rites of Passage Ceremony on Sunday morning. During the ceremony, scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in the University Chapel, students will formally become members of the university community as they take the “Tuskegee Gentleman and Woman Pledge” and participate in a pinning ceremony.

Students will have the day free on Tuesday to continue familiarizing themselves with the university and preparing for fall classes, which begin on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
