Representatives from 90-plus law schools will be on the 澳门六合彩图挂牌 campus Tuesday, Jan. 28 as part of its third annual Law School Fair. The fair is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Kellogg Conference Center.

The event is open and free to all students from Tuskegee and other area universities 鈥 as well as university employees and members of the community 鈥 who are interested in attending law school or gathering information for prospective law school students.

Dr. Tammy Laughlin, assistant professor of political science, noted that the annual fair has become an integral part of efforts to support Tuskegee students鈥 admission to a wide variety of state, regional and Ivy League law schools.

鈥淪tudents often decide to attend a particular law school after they meet with an admissions representative on campus,鈥 said Laughlin, who also co-advises Tuskegee鈥檚 Pi Sigma Alpha chapter and its Pre-Law Society. 鈥淢eeting and making a positive impression with an admissions counselor could ultimately make a difference in whether a student is accepted into the law school of his or her choice.鈥

Through one-on-one conversations, recruiters will help advise students on how to narrow down their lists of prospective law schools, apply, and seek tuition assistance that might be available.

Charity White, a junior political science major agreed. 鈥淭he law school fair is an awesome experience every year!  Meeting with representatives is always a most informative and helpful experience.鈥

鈥淎n on-campus visit with a representative from the University of Pennsylvania prior to applying to law schools sparked my interest in Penn Law,鈥 said Gustavo Cardona, a 2017 Tuskegee graduate who is now a 3L at UPenn. 鈥淭hat put me in touch with people who would later become instrumental in helping me make an informed decision about what law school to attend.鈥

Arielle Briscoe, electrical engineering major, echoed Gustavo鈥檚 sentiments stating, 鈥淎ttending the fair on campus gave me all the tools and networking opportunities I needed to be able to apply to and enter law school in 2021.鈥

Anyone planning to attend the Law School Fair is asked to register in advance by visiting ; however, walk-ins will be welcomed.

Other events related to the Law School Fair include the following 鈥 all of which are open to Tuskegee and other area college students, as well as the public.

  • Monday, Jan. 27, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Kellogg Conference Center: 鈥淗BCU Law School Forum,鈥 in Kellogg Conference Center, Rooms F&G; refreshments served beforehand.

  • Tuesday, Jan. 28, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., Kellogg Conference Center: 鈥淧ersonal Statement Workshop鈥 featuring Collins Byrd, assistant dean of enrollment management at the University of Iowa, who will provide students with pointers on how to write a personal statement and a diversity statement 鈥 both components of many law school applications.

鈥淭he fair will help students evaluate if a potential school is a good fit,鈥 said Dr. Shenita Brazelton, an attorney herself, and an Assistant Professor of Political Science who co-advises with Laughlin. 鈥淲hile school representatives will help students make the best possible decisions for their potential law careers, it鈥檚 also up to students to do their homework on schools 鈥 and areas of legal practice 鈥 that truly interest them.鈥

Both Brazelton and Laughlin recommend students research their top law school prospects, be familiar with their admissions requirements, and come to the fair with questions specific to each school. Business or professional attire is recommended for those attending the Law School Fair.

The annual Law School Fair is a collaboration between the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of History and Political Science, Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, and the 澳门六合彩图挂牌 Pre-Law Society.
