White Hall clock towerThe career website recently ranked ϲͼ’s social work program fifth among the 69 undergraduate programs it evaluated at public and private institutions throughout Alabama. It is the only program in the top five based at a private institution, or a historically black college or university.

To determine its ranking, Zippa.com assessed data available through the National Center for Education Statistics and College Scorecard data from ED.gov to understand which social work programs in Alabama offer the best career opportunities. This included data on program admissions, enrollment and graduation rates; the cost of enrollment and average student debt; program reputation; and graduates’ employability and mean earnings.

This analysis produced a “Social Work Quality Index,” which determined the website’s top five social work programs in Alabama.

“We strive to prepare knowledgeable and empathetic professionals able to meet the needs of the people they serve,” said Dr. April L. Jones, LMSW, head of Tuskegee’s Department of Social Work. “Our students graduate capable of working with individuals and families, or within organizational or community settings.”

In addition to offering an undergraduate degree in social work, Tuskegee provides options for students of other academic disciplines to double major or minor in social work as well. The majority of the program’s graduates enter into advanced-standing master’s-level programs on a scholarship.
