Tuskegee ranked No. 2 among baccalaureate colleges, No. 1 in research expenditures

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (August 28, 2013) — For the third consecutive year, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êͼ¹ÒÅÆ has garnered a top spot on Washington Monthly’s ranking list for baccalaureate colleges. Out of 350 colleges and universities, Tuskegee was ranked No. 2 by the non-profit publication that focuses on U.S. government and politics.

The publication evaluated the schools based on service, social mobility and research categories. Tuskegee was No. 1 for the research category. According to the magazine, Tuskegee spent more than $15.69 million on research. 

The service criterion was determined by factors such as student participation in ROTC and Peace Corps programs and percentage of federal work-study funds spent on service. Tuskegee ranked No. 2 in ROTC participation. Social mobility was gauged by factors such as the number of students with Pell Grants and graduation percentage. According to the publication, 69 percent of Tuskegee’s students are Pell Grant.
