°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êͼ¹ÒÅÆ Trustee and alum Erick Harris ’09 was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He was sworn into office this week by Oklahoma Supreme Court Vice Chief Justice Dustin P. Rowe.
Harris won a special general election on February 13 to fill a vacant seat.
"It is an honor for me to represent the people of House District 39," Harris said. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass legislation that will benefit our schools, enhance public safety, support small businesses, and provide other services to my district and the state."
Harris has served as a member of the university’s board of trustees since 2015 and currently chairs the board’s student affairs and enrollment management committee. He previously served as a legislative appointee on Oklahoma Department of Corrections board of directors.
Trustee Harris is an attorney and is Vice President for Legal Services for United Petroleum Transports, Inc., a family-owned trucking company headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Before entering private practice, he was an Assistant Attorney General for the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office.
