Every March, organizations and institutions pause to recognize Social Work Month as a time to honor the dedication and commitment of social workers who strive to improve the well-being of individuals and communities across the nation. This year is no different.

At ϲͼ, the Department of Social Work is helping celebrate this year’s theme, "Empowering Social Workers," with a series of events highlighting the critical role of social workers in our communities. As part of this celebration, the department will host a commemorative appreciation of social workers and a walk on Friday, March 22, starting at 10 a.m. at the Logan Hall Gym.

“The commemorative walk organized by the Department of Social Work is a symbolic gesture of solidarity with social workers and their mission to advocate for more social services and providers for vulnerable populations and self-care of social workers who serve on the frontline with direct services to clients,” said Dr. April Jones, Department Social Work Chair. “We are inviting individuals to come and celebrate with us, including our own faculty, students, alumni, and community members who share a passion for the social work profession and social justice and human rights.”

The appreciation event will include awards, a ribbon cutting for the online MSW Social Work program, wellness information, refreshments, and an opportunity to win door prizes and meet with colleagues to network and vendors. This event aims to engage the community in meaningful conversations about the importance of self-care and resiliency of social workers, social issues, and inspire action for positive change.
