Animal & Veterinary Sciences Degree Program

The Animal and Veterinary Sciences Program offers five exciting options for individuals interested in animal related careers and they are 1) Science, 2) Wildlife Science, 3) Companion and Lifestyle Animals, 4) Veterinary Science (3+1 program), 5) Business and 6) Public Health.

The SCIENCE option provides students the opportunity to obtain advanced training in animal sciences, chemistry, biology, and related sciences in preparation for graduate or professional school, including veterinary or human medicine. Students who fulfill the requirements for this option will possess a foundation for careers in research as well as many other fields related to animal, poultry, veterinary and related sciences, including the academic pre-requisites for entry into veterinary school. The WILDLIFE SCIENCE option, like the Science option, provides students the opportunity to obtain advanced training in animal sciences, chemistry, biology, and related sciences in preparation for graduate or professional school, including veterinary or human medicine; however, this option provides a more focused curriculum with regard to coursework in wildlife biology, while simultaneously providing students with the academic foundation to pursue careers in research as well as many other fields related to animal, poultry, veterinary and related sciences, including the academic pre-requisites for entry into veterinary school.  For a sample curriculum balance sheet for this program, please CLICK HERE.

The COMPANION AND LIFESTYLE ANIMALS option, similar to the Science and Wildlife Science options, provides students the opportunity to obtain advanced training in animal sciences, chemistry, biology, and related sciences in preparation for graduate or professional school, including veterinary or human medicine; however, this option provides a more focused curriculum with regard to coursework in companion animals (Introduction to Companion Animals, Companion Animal Nutrition, and more!), while simultaneously providing students with the academic foundation to pursue careers in research as well as many other fields related to animal, poultry, veterinary and related sciences, including the academic pre-requisites for entry into veterinary school.  For a sample curriculum balance sheet for this program, please CLICK HERE.

The VETERINARY SCIENCE option is designed to meet the minimum requirements for applying to a school/college of veterinary medicine after only three years of undergraduate study. Completion of this option in its entirety plus the successful completion of the curriculum of the first year at the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êͼ¹ÒÅÆ College of Veterinary medicine leads to a Bachelor of Science.  Please note that, the completion of the first three years of this curriculum does not guarantee acceptance into a college/school of veterinary medicine, as applicants are selected on a competitive basis. The BUSINESS option provides students with formal training in agricultural business and management as related to livestock production, providing a foundation for careers in industry, extension, agricultural marketing, etc. Opportunities for advance graduate studies exist in agricultural economics, agricultural education, business administration, and livestock management. The PUBLIC HEALTH option is an accelerated Master's of Public Health program that is designed to help Students complete three years of undergraduate study and enter the MPH program, earning a BS degree in Animal and Veterinary Science after the successful completion of the first year of the MPH program which is completed during the 4th year at TU and then and MPH degree after the 5th year at TU.  The public health option prepares students to work as public health practitioners in government, industries, or non-profits, working to raise awareness of best public health care practices, or establish new health programs and evaluate existing ones.
