Our Mission

As one of the pioneering colleges in promoting and adopting the “One Health” initiative, the Office of Research and Advanced Studies is committed to recruit and admit motivated individuals and expose them to high quality research and graduate education.  This will enable them to generate and disseminate new knowledge as scientists, researchers, and academicians in the following areas of faculty expertise.

  • cancer biology and therapy,
  • immunology and infectious diseases,
  • obesity and control of food intake,
  • epidemiology and risk analysis,
  • food safety,
  • nanotechnology
  • reproductive physiology,
  • toxicology
  • targeted drug delivery and phage-based nano-medicines and
  • renal dysplasia and cystic kidney disease.

Overview

Our main facility is located in Williams-Bowie Hall. This facility includes the Office of Research and Advanced Studies, three core laboratories and well-equipped faculty Research Laboratories, and a state-of-the-art Laboratory animal facility. Offices for graduate students, postdoctoral research associates, and technicians are also located in this building. Faculty members and graduate students also have access to core laboratories located in other colleges in our university.

This single centralized facility is strategically situated to maximize students' exposure to a variety of academic activities e.g. workshops, seminars, different departmental presentations, and symposiums.
