Health Sciences Program

The Department of Allied Health Science encompasses:
ÌýÌýÌýÌý Health Sciences (a Bachelor of Science degree)


The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences begins with the general education curriculum common to all °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êͼ¹ÒÅÆ undergraduates in the first two years of study. The final two years of study consist of the concentration component that permits a multidisciplinary investigation of an area, problem, or theme within health sciences that is meaningful to a student’s interest and career aspirations. This degree requires 120 hours, which does not include Physical Education and Orientation which are required courses. Consistent with °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êͼ¹ÒÅÆ’s requirements for undergraduates, a cumulative GPA of 2.0 must be achieved for graduation. In addition to courses explicitly listed on the curriculum sheet, courses broadly described as “Health science requirements must satisfy degree requirements upon approval by the program coordinator or the department head.

The mission of the Health Sciences program is to educate quality competent and compassionate health care leaders in the health professions. The program will prepare graduates to advance globally through excellence, innovation, and collaboration in teaching, practice, scholarship, research and to transform the communities they serve.

Program Objective Mission

  • To achieve up to 90% graduation rate.
  • To assist graduations and attain employment in the field of health science.
  • To keep abreast of the latest in the field of health science
  • To participate in scholarly and educational activities related to health sciences healthcare, and the community.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of health sciences will demonstrate the following outcomes as evidenced by their participation In class, completion of class assignments, presentations and projects

  • Communicate effectively in writing on a variety of topics related to health care.
  • Demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the delivery of culturally competent health care.
  • Effectively communicate and acknowledge the impact of the legal, ethical. and political environment o health care policy and delivery.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to search and retrieve information and materials related to individual clinical practice issues or overall health policy concerns.
  • Describe and demonstrate management/ leadership skills and theories that can be applied In preparation to lead or manage effectively in a health care environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and effectively apply health care models, theories, tools to Issues impacting health care and delivery.
